Black Skirt Tetra - Longfin
The Black Skirt tetra, also known as the Gymnocorymbus ternetzi, is a popular and peaceful freshwater fish that is easy to care for and ideal for beginner aquarists. Native to South America, this tetra features a black and silver coloration with a distinctive triangular-shaped fin on its underside. Black Skirt tetras are schooling fish that should be kept in groups of at least six individuals in a well-planted aquarium with plenty of swimming space. They are peaceful and can be kept with other peaceful fish, making them an excellent addition to a community aquarium. Black Skirt tetras are omnivores and will accept a variety of foods, including flakes, pellets, and live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp and bloodworms. Regular water changes are essential to maintain good water quality and avoid sudden changes in water parameters. With proper care, Black Skirt tetras can live up to 5 years in captivity, providing years of enjoyment and beauty to their owners.
