Sea Almond leaves, or Catappa leaves, are used to add healthy tannins to aquariums. Mostly used with Bettas and Shrimp, but Dwarf cichlids, angelfish, discus, and any black water loving fish will benefit from these leaves as the tannins inhibit bacterial and fungal infections in fish. They are also used as leaf litter in aquariums, creating natural hiding spots and a bottom of the lake look, which is a thing for aquarists. Reptile owners are also interested in them for substrate for poison dart frogs and growing isopods for feed for some amphibians and reptiles.
